Have you noticed that your car's paint looks dull, or looks like it's covered in spider-web scratches when the sun hits it? Those are called swirl marks. They are microscopic scratches in your vehicle's clear coat, usually caused by improper washing techniques, automatic drive-thru car washes, or wiping down the paint when it's dry.
Many people think they just need a "good wax" to fix this. This is a myth. Waxing simply fills in the scratches temporarily, hiding them until it washes off a few weeks later. Paint correction (polishing and buffing) is the actual process of safely leveling the clear coat by a microscopic amount to permanently remove the scratches, restoring the true depth, clarity, and mirror-like gloss of your paint.
Before a polisher ever touches the paint, the car must be surgically clean. We perform a thorough hand wash, followed by chemical iron-removal and a clay bar treatment to pull embedded contaminants out of the clear coat.
We meticulously tape off all plastic trims, rubber seals, emblems, and headlights. This prevents damage from the polishing pad and stops compounding dust from getting stuck in hard-to-clean crevices.
For heavily scratched or oxidized paint, we start with an abrasive compound and a microfiber cutting pad. This heavy-duty step removes deep defects, severe swirl marks, and water spots.
Compounding leaves the paint hazy. We follow up with a soft foam pad and a fine finishing polish to refine the surface, removing micro-marring and extracting maximum gloss and clarity from the paint.
We wipe down the entire vehicle with a specialized alcohol prep spray to remove polishing oils. Finally, we apply a premium sealant or prepare the surface for a long-lasting Ceramic Coating.
Unlike glazes or waxes that just hide damage, correction actually levels the clear coat, permanently removing the scratches until new ones are introduced.
A ceramic coating locks in the condition of the paint beneath it. You must correct the paint first, otherwise you are permanently locking in scratches and swirl marks.
